TOURISM RELIEF FUNDING QUALIFYING CRITERIA FOR ENTERPRISE

THE INTERESTED ENTERPRISE MUST ENSURE THAT IT MEETS THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS OF THE CRITERION IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR RELIEF FUNDING. THIS CRITERION DOES NOT APPLY TO TOURIST GUIDES, RIKSHAW OPERATORS, ARTS & CRAFTS CO-OPS & TRADITIONAL PERFORMANCE GROUPS :

  1. An enterprise must be officially registered with relevant business registration authority Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) and those operating as Sole Proprietors.
  2. An enterprise must also be registered or in the progress of registration with Provincial Department of Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs (EDTEA).
  3. An enterprise must be generating a turnover not exceed R10 million per business financial year.
  4. An enterprise must be compliant with all tax regulations and in possession of a valid tax clearance certificate.
  5. An enterprise should have not have benefited from the National or Provincial Tourism Relief Fund.

The requirements for enterprises MUST include submission of online applications accompanied by the following compulsory supporting documents:

  1. Copy of business registration certificate issued by CIPC and proof that the enterprise is registered or in the process of business registration with EDTEA.
  2. Certified ID copies of directors/members.
  3. Valid copy of Tax Clearance Certificate.
  4. Six (6) months’ bank statements (3 bank statements for January to march 2020 and 3 Bank statements for April to June 2021).

The criteria for Destination Management Companies (DMCs), Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs), Incentive Buyers and Exhibition Companies includes:

Be registered with professional associations such as;

The Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI), Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA) & the Exhibition Association of South Africa (EXSA).

Tourism Relief Fund for Tourist Guides

IN THE CASE OF TOURIST GUIDES INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THE KZN TOURISM RELIEF FUND, SEPARATE CRITERIA AND REQUIREMENTS WILL BE USED AS SET-OUT HEREUNDER.

Interested tourist guides must ensure that they meet the following elements of the criterion in order to qualify for relief funding:

  1. Be registered as a tour guide with the provincial Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA).
  2. Must have been in service for a period of one year or more before the emergence of the pandemic.
  3. Must have not benefitted from the national & provincial tourism relief fund for tour guides.
  4. The submitted online applications for tour guides must be accompanied by the following compulsory supporting documents.
  • Copy of registration as a tour guide
  • Certified ID copy

The applications received from the eligible tourism enterprises will 
undergo the following process and activities:

1. Submission of applications

Handling and responding to enquires

Receipt and verification of applications


2. Screening & evaluation 
applications

Screening & selection of qualifying applications

Independent assessment of qualifying applications
Recommendations for approval & approval of funding.

3. Awarding & disbursement 
of funding

Issue written notifications to qualifying applicants/enterprises.
Administer and effect payments to qualifying enterprises.
